When I began studying watchmaking, I struggled to find practical advice, useful techniques, good working practices, guidance on using tools, and even basic knowledge of how the work was done. I approached several watchmakers to ask about work experience, even unpaid, and received a polite but firm no from each. That was when I decided that I wanted to share what I had learned. Much of the knowledge and skill in watchmaking comes only with time and dedication. I believe sharing knowledge is no threat to anyone.
That belief led to the creation of Lillenberg Watchmakers Club.

The workshop is for wristwatch enthusiasts who want to understand how a mechanical watch movement works by working on one themselves. We dismantle a mechanical, hand-wound movement, rather than a battery-powered one, and, with a little luck, put it back together again. Along the way, you will discover how a watch works. I provide the tools and movement, so you do not need to bring anything. We use professional watchmaking tools, mostly made in Switzerland. I have selected and assembled the tool kit myself, and you can purchase one to take home if you wish.
